Peninsula Hong Kong

Being an international metropolis and business hub, Hong Kong is no short of uber-swanky hotels, where you can rub shoulders with the world's rich and famous. But there is more to Hong Kong's luxury hotels than just glitz and glamour... As a matter of fact, the combination of British colonialism, Chinese traditions and other Asian and international influences has created a hotel-culture that is quite unique to this vibrant city.

There are hundreds of hotels in Hong Kong, including several high-class ones. Most of the hotels are located in Tsimshatsui, which is the place for shopping, food, and entertainment. Causeway Bay, North Point, and the new territories also have some very good hotels. Central, Admiralty and Wanchai, which are the financial districts, also have fantastic hotels.

Hong Kong is as modern as any U.S. city, and its skyscrapers and designer stores are a testament to its modernity. Most of Hong Kong’s shopping districts are concentrated in northern Hong Kong Island; however, for those people who prefer less-expensive open-air markets, Kowloon is the perfect day-long shopping destination.

Hong Kong consists of three parts: Victoria Island and surrounding islands, Kowloon, located on the tip of the peninsula leading up to mainland China and the rest of the peninsula known as the New Territories. Between Victoria Island and Kowloon was a world class harbor that placed Hong Kong on the map as an entry point into China.

The stunning decor was created by internationally known avant-garde designer, Philippe Starck. The floor-to-ceiling glass wall offers unmatched views of Victoria harbor and Hong Kong Island, and the atmosphere is certainly like being at the top of the world.

Hong Kong was a gem in Great Britain's colonial crown from 1852 until its 1997 when its sovereignty was transferred to the People's Republic of China. Though it's part of China, Hong Kong will have much autonomy for 50 years, until 2047. It's a favorite vacation location, offering spectacular architecture, sophisticated culture, and surrounded by fantastic natural beauty.

Hong Kong island- it is the island in the southern part of Hong Kong, whose central area is the major historical, economic and political centre of Hong Kong. To the southern side of this island, there is Aberdeen Island, whose Sampan tour is worth visiting. The most popular beach Repulse Bay is also on the southern side of the island and is generally crowded on the weekends. The Old Man Mo Temple and botanical and zoological are gardens are some of the main attractions of the island.

The Peak Tram takes you to the top of the peak. However be prepared to wait in the long line to board the tram. We went on a weekday but still had to wait over 30 mins to get on it. The ride on tram itself gives you some spectacular view of city skyline. There are many restaurants, shopping and walking trails at the top. We ended up having lunch at one of the tourist trap restaurant and spent couple of hours walking around.

Victoria Peak offers the best views of the town and the seaport, with the stunning nighttime views. Victoria Peak is known for its eating joints and entertainment attractions.
